I’m Pedro Almada — an information manager, data journalist, and Chevening scholar passionate about uncovering the stories hidden in data. With a background in socio-environmental research, I collaborate with organizations and institutions seeking to drive meaningful change through strategic communication, analysis, and storytelling.
Growing up in a small town along Mexico’s Caribbean coast, I witnessed firsthand how environmental challenges and social struggles often go hand in hand. That early experience shaped my interest in exploring the complex relationship between people, nature, and power.
Over the past eight years, I’ve worked across research, field, and digital projects — from supporting anthropological and environmental expeditions with National Geographic Initiatives, to contributing to humanitarian programs with Refuge Egypt, The Red Cross, and development work with the IFC – World Bank Group, where I focused on reform tracking systems and data visualization.
My work with Airwars, one of the leading civilian harm transparency watchdogs, has deepened my expertise in open-source research (OSINT), conflict monitoring, and investigative analysis — further expanding my view on how environmental degradation, displacement, and violence are often interconnected.
Bringing together data analysis, storytelling, and a deep commitment to justice, I build bridges between raw information and human-centered insight. Whether it’s through interactive visualizations, spatial analysis, or long-form narratives, I help projects and institutions communicate complex issues in powerful, accessible ways.
